the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eSH9\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eMr. Tamura\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e has taken the basic \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eSD-9\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e circuit architecture that he invented in \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003e1981\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e and re-worked it to meet \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eScott Henderson’s\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e exacting performance standards.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eMr. Tamura\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e has shifted the center frequency of the SH9’s Tone control and focused it in the lows and lower-mids.  Even as the Tone control is turned up, there is no loss of the bass frequencies that \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eScott\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e considers essential for allowing notes to speak properly in the higher registers on the guitar.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis increased note girth combined with the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eSH9’s\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e inherently compressed sound allows \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eScott\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e to effortlessly articulate the fluid, horn-like lead tones that he is known for.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnother useful improvement to the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eSH9\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e circuit is an increased output level that helps the pedal to be heard clearly in a full band context.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eMr. Tamura\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e also designed the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eSH9\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e to operate with \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003e9-or 18-volt\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e power.  Although \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eScott\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e only uses the pedal with 9-volts, powering it with \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003e18 VDC\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e will allow for increased headroom with less compression and a slightly different character to the distortion.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eSH9\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e is housed in a die-cast zinc chassis and coated with a
