The Percolator, a twenty-first century iteration of a Steve Albini favorite, the Harmonic Percolator, dishes out raunchy fuzz blasts flirting with octave and gate tones. The Percolator falls right in line with the lineage of the '70s modded original. A non-traditional control scheme centers itself around pushing the proverbial envelope for gnarly blends of harmonic distortion and melted fuzz. Controls for Harmonics and Bias harness the pedal's input gain settings and gain circuit bias, respectively, to introduce pseudo-octave fuzzes to Velcro-ripping gated fuzzes. Things are driven further with a two-way Drive/Fuzz toggle for two clipping diode modes that open the pedal's palette wider.
The Percolator modernizes its '70s cult form through fine EHX design. An internal trim pot allows for the enhancement of sub-octave tones or the addition of extra gain while allowing access to its nine-volt battery power connection. Modern playability builds up with a footswitch with momentary and latching operation and mechanical relay true bypass for a smooth, clean, and playable footswitching experience.
